The Diploma of Dental Technology is a nationally recognised qualification that is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills to provide a range of dental technology services. The course covers topics such as dental materials, prosthetics, dental implants and ceramic technology. It is suitable for students who have an interest in dental technology and want to gain more advanced knowledge and skills. This qualification includes theory-based units and practical components, including work placement. On completion of the course, graduates will have the skills to construct and repair dental prosthetics, manufacture and repair dental implants and undertake laboratory procedures.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS): Admission: Admission to BDS course is done through entrance exams such as NEET. Eligibility: The eligibility criteria for admission to the BDS course is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as compulsory subjects, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Fee: The fee structure for BDS courses ranges from INR 30,000 to INR 2,00,000 per annum depending upon the college. Scope: A BDS qualified dentist can work in hospitals, clinics, research institutes, and universities. They can also work in the public health sector, and can even open their own private practice.

The Certificate III in Dental Assisting is a nationally recognised qualification that reflects the role of workers who assist dental practitioners during oral health care procedures. The role includes maintaining high standards of infection control, assisting with practice administration and supporting quality and professionalism in the dental sector.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 350 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the Units of Competency. Diploma of Dental Technology in Australia is a qualification that reflects the role of a dental technician responsible for construction and repair of dentures and other dental appliances including crowns, bridges, partial dentures, pre- and post-oral and maxillofacial surgical devices, and orthodontic appliances.

Dental technicians work in dental laboratories on their own or in groups, under the prescription of dentists, dental prosthetists or dental specialists.
